WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Auburn completed its fall tournament schedule on Sunday at the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. In the event that began on Friday, Billy Blaydes and Will Nolan won their doubles flight while Raul Dobai qualified for the finals in his singles flight.
"This weekend's matches provided all the competitive opportunities we were looking for in our last fall tournament," said Auburn head coach Bobby Reynolds. "We had some success and some failures but as a whole, we continued to try to implement areas in our individual development throughout the weekend without worrying about the result. This team has made some great progress in their game style that I know will pay dividends in the spring."
Blaydes and Nolan earned three doubles wins to claim the title in their respective flight. The Auburn duo defeated Charles Courteau and Guilherme Severin of Radford, Ivan Dreycopp and Matias Iturbe of Charlotte and Top Nidunjianzan and Alan Kam of Princeton.
After advancing through the first round due to a walkover, Dobai took down South Carolina's Casey Hoole in three sets and North Carolina's Will Peters to reach the finals in his respective flight. Dobai finished the fall with a 9-5 singles record.
In his Auburn debut, Nicholas Heng earned the first doubles win and first singles win of his collegiate career.
