AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn senior Finn Murgett has been awarded SEC player of the week honors in men's tennis, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Murgett had a perfect weekend for Auburn at the prestigious 75th annual Blue-Gray National Tennis Classic in Montgomery by winning all three of his singles matches on court four as well as both of his singles matches on court one alongside partner Raul Dobai. Murgett set the tone for Auburn, as his singles matches were the first to finish against each of Auburn's three nationally ranked opponents and each victory was in just two sets.
Murgett's dominating performance over the weekend earned him 2023 Blue-Gray National Tennis Classic MVP honors after the 10-2 Tigers claimed their first Blue-Gray championship since 1984 on Saturday night with a 4-2 win over No. 14 Arizona.
The senior All-American improved his singles record to a perfect 7-0 for the season and improved his doubles record to 5-3.
Auburn will be back in action to open up conference play at home on Thursday vs. No. 13 Tennessee at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.
