AUBURN, Ala. – Fifth year Hannah Lemel of the Auburn equestrian team was named to the SEC Community Service Team for the second consecutive season, the league announced.

The Brevard, North Carolina product continued to be an active member of the community in her final year on the Plains, serving for organizations such as Project Uplift and Compassus Hospice Care.

In her third year with Project Uplift, Lemel met with her mentee of three years once a week, acting as a mentor and friend. She spent time with her student playing soccer and teaching life skills like reading and cooking. She and her mentee have been working through a goal of reading 50 books this year to earn a trip to the Georgia Aquarium.

In addition, Lemel helped plan an event that brought the children of Project Uplift to the Auburn University Equestrian Center for a chance to ride horses. This was the second year of the event under her wing.

Lemel has been working with Compassus Hospice Care for the past two years, doing a variety of different tasks for the organization. She helped handle administrative duties as well as keeping a patient company throughout the day.

On top of her work with those two organizations, Lemel and her teammate have opened car doors at local elementary schools all year as well as participating in food drives to fill the local food banks.
