AUBURN, Ala. – No. 7 Auburn has been selected to participate in the NCAA San Antonio regional as a No. 2 seed at TPC San Antonio, the NCAA announced on Wednesday. The Tigers have now received a regional bid in six consecutive seasons that the championship has been held and 28 times in program history.
"I love being in this regional because we have the same time zone and the same type of Bermuda grass," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said after the announcement. "Those two factors mean we don't have to leave a day early. It's also and easy place to get to."
The San Antonio regional, one of six regional host sites this year, is set to be played May 8-10 at TPC San Antonio. 156 players will advance to the championship finals at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona on May 19-24 with the top five teams and top individual (not on an advancing team) advancing from each regional.
"The golf course is very challenging and they just played a PGA Tour event there, so I think it'll be in great condition," Luellen continued. "It'll be tough to score low on this golf course, which is exactly what you want in a regional."

Auburn will be joined in the regional field with Texas A&M, Pepperdine, Oklahoma State, SMU, UCLA, New Mexico, Denver, Illinois, Sam Houston State, Louisiana-Monroe and Missouri State. The Tigers have had recent success at NCAA regionals, as they have punched their ticket to the last four NCAA Championships.
When the third round of the NCAA Stillwater Regional started last season, Auburn was 11 shots back of fourth place with only the top four teams qualifying for the NCAA Championship. The Tigers shot 12-under on the day and were 11-under on the back nine alone to move up into a tie for third place, punching their ticket to the NCAA Championship.
So far this season, Auburn has earned two tournament victories at the 2022 East Lake Cup and the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. In nine team events, the Tigers have posted a 288.63 team scoring average which is currently the lowest in program history.
Auburn enters the San Antonio Regional coming off a runner-up finish in the stroke play portion of the SEC Championship and is ranked No. 7 in the nation by Golfstat. Other top-25 teams in the San Antonio Regional include No. 6 Texas A&M, No. 18 Pepperdine and No. 22 Oklahoma State.
