AUBURN, Ala. – Fifteen of Auburn Athletics' 19 teams, the most in program history, posted perfect 1,000 Academic Progress Rate scores for the 2021-22 scoring period, according to NCAA APR scores released Tuesday.

"Auburn student-athletes are achieving exceptional results in the classroom and in competition as these outstanding APR results attest," athletics director John Cohen said. "We congratulate Auburn student-athletes for making steady progress toward their degrees, and we commend their families for instilling the value of education. Our coaches and academic support staff do a tremendous job helping student-athletes balance the rigors of academics and athletics."

Auburn teams earning single-year APRs of 1,000 were: football, women's swimming and diving, women's tennis, volleyball, equestrian, baseball, men's basketball, men's cross country, men's golf, men's swimming and diving, men's tennis, women's basketball, women's golf, gymnastics and soccer.

Six Tiger teams have produced multiyear APRs of 1,000 for the 2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22 academic years: men's cross country, men's golf, women's golf, gymnastics, soccer and volleyball.

Men's basketball earned a 1,000 APR score for the fifth consecutive year. The NCAA's APR evaluation observed a one-year hiatus in 2021 because of the pandemic.

The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.

From the NCAA: Each academic year, every Division I sports team calculates its APR using a simple and consistent formula. Each term, scholarship student-athletes can earn one point for remaining eligible and one point for staying in school or graduating. For schools that do not offer scholarships, recruited student-athletes are tracked.

This is the second year of publicly reported APRs after a one-year COVID-19 hiatus. Last spring, the Division I Board of Directors approved the release of APR scores but voted to continue the suspension of program penalties.

The minimum APR academic standard for each team is 930. Typically, teams that scored below the benchmark would have to face penalties that encourage an emphasis and prioritization on academics. However, due to the current penalty suspension in place, teams falling below the minimum 930 score will not be subjected to penalties this year.

Normal Academic Performance Program operations with program penalties and loss of access to postseason competition will resume in spring 2024. This will also include the public recognition of high-performing teams.

A full list of APRs for each team can be accessed by using the APR searchable database.
