AUBURN, Ala. – No. 11 Auburn will play its first event of 2024 at the South Carolina Invite in Columbia beginning on Saturday. The three-day round robin event featuring Auburn, Wake Forest, Wisconsin and host school South Carolina will take place at the Carolina Indoor Tennis Center.
The Tigers will begin the event by playing singles matches against the Gamecocks at 9 a.m. CT and Wisconsin in doubles matches no earlier than 1 p.m. CT on Saturday. On Sunday, Auburn will again play singles at 9 a.m. CT against Wake Forest then is scheduled to play doubles opponents from South Carolina in matches that will begin no earlier than 1 p.m. CT. During the final day on Monday, the Tigers will play Wisconsin in singles at 9 a.m. CT and finish the tournament with doubles matches against Wake Forest no earlier than 1 p.m.
Sophomore DJ Bennett, who is ranked 34th in singles and 30th in doubles by the ITA, will look to continue her momentum from the fall. The Belleview, Florida native posted a singles record of 9-3 and a doubles record of 9-2 during the fall slate. Bennett leads the Tigers in both singles and doubles wins this season and had a 21-9 overall singles record last season.
Senior Adeline Flach also caught fire towards the end of the fall season, winning three consecutive singles matches and three straight doubles matches at the Auburn Invite in November.
