AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn gymnastics team is currently ranked tied for No. 12 in this week's RoadToNationals.com rankings.
The Tigers improved their average to 196.813 after scoring a season-best 197.025 last Friday vs. Kentucky in Neville Arena. Auburn remains on the Plains this week, hosting another top 10 opponent in No. 7 Florida. The two teams will face off at 5 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
"It's exciting to be ranked among the top 15 once again this week," head coach Jeff Graba said. "It's still really early in the season, but we seem to be improving each week. If we keep that up, we'll be in good shape as the season continues."
Oklahoma is at No. 1 with a 197.875 average. California moved up to No. 2 at 197.363, while Alabama (197.175), Arkansas (197.150) and Utah (197.138) round out the top five. The rest of the Southeastern Conference are among the top 20 – Kentucky (No. 6), Florida (No. 7), LSU (No. 8), Missouri (t-No. 12) and Georgia (No. 20).
Auburn's bars squad is tied for 12th nationally with a 49.263 average, while the vault and floor lineups are both tied for 15th. Auburn's vault has an average of 49.163 and floor stands at 49.338. The beam team is ranked 20th at 49.050.
Individually, senior Olivia Hollingsworth is 16th in the all-around at 39.475 after tying her career high Friday with a 39.500. She is tied for 19th on floor with a 9.912 average, earning a season-best 9.925 vs. Kentucky last week.
Senior Sydney Schumaker is among the nation's top vaulters, holding a 9.85 average after scoring a 9.9 in Auburn's home opener.
Hollingsworth and junior Sophia Groth are ranked in the top 50 on bars with a 9.875 average each. Senior Gabby McLaughlin is ranked tied for 30th with a 9.875 on beam.
