AUBURN, Ala. – No. 14 Auburn will play for a chance to participate in the 2024 ITA National Indoor Team Championships over the weekend in Durham, North Carolina at ITA Kickoff Weekend. The Tigers' first match will be at 5:30 p.m. CT against Denver on Friday and their second match will be against either host school Duke or Princeton on Saturday.
Last season, Auburn hosted ITA Kickoff Weekend and defeated both UCSB and UCF to punch its ticket to the Indoor Championships in Seattle.
Denver will enter the weekend with a 2-0 record, No. 15 Duke will enter with a 4-0 record and Princeton with a 1-0 record. The Blue Devils have four ranked singles players including No. 52 Katie Codd while Princeton has one ranked doubles team and one ranked singles player, No. 93 Madeleine Jessup.
Selin Ovunc, who is ranked 122nd in the nation in singles, was the highlight of the Tigers' last match against North Carolina as she claimed a two-set victory over No. 41 Abbey Forbes in Chapel Hill on Saturday. Ovunc enters the weekend with a 6-4 singles record and 10-3 overall doubles record this season.
The weekend will begin on Friday with Duke and Princeton at 2 p.m. CT prior to the Tigers' match against Denver scheduled for 5:30 p.m. CT. The winners of each respective match will face each other in the championship match on Saturday at 3 p.m. CT while the losers will follow in the consolation match at 6 p.m. CT.
