AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn gymnastics team moved up to No. 12 in this week's RoadToNationals.com rankings after a big showing last Friday.
The team's current average bumped up to 197.079 after scoring a season-high 197.725 last Friday in Auburn's win over then-No. 7 Alabama. Auburn goes on the road this week to Baton Rouge and will take on No. 3 LSU in Maravich Center. The teams will face off at 8 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
Oklahoma remains at No. 1 with a 198.113 average. California is No. 2 at 197.604, while LSU (197.596), Utah (197.533), and Kentucky (197.458) round out the top five. The rest of the Southeastern Conference is among the top 20 – Florida (No. 6), Alabama (No. 9), Missouri (No. 14), Arkansas (No. 16), and Georgia (No. 18).
Auburn's beam squad is ranked fifth nationally with a 49.250 average after scoring a season-high 49.4750 on Friday. The floor crew is 12th with a 49.408. The vault team moved up to 12th with a 49.238 after tying a program record last week with a 49.500. Bars remain in the top 20 with a 49.183 average.
Individually, fifth-year Cassie Stevens is 19th in the all-around with a 39.500 average and is 18th nationally in vault with a 9.879 average. She moved up to 30th on beam, averaging 9.871.
Senior Gabby McLaughlin is 19th nationally on beam having a 9.892 average and leads the team on floor with a 9.892 average
