AUBURN, Ala. – Senior Kate Buchanan of the No. 5 Auburn equestrian team was named the NCEA Reining Rider of the Month, the National Collegiate Equestrian Association announced Wednesday.
 
The national honor is the first of Buchanan's career.
 
The Scottsdale, Arizona native finished the regular season with a 2-0-0 record in March in Reining, earning back-to-back wins in her final meets on the Plains. She kicked off the month with a big win over No. 3 SMU (March 2), beating Dani Latimer by .75 points with a 71.25.
 
Buchanan capped the regular season with a big win against rival and No. 2 Texas A&M (March 9) scoring a 71 and winning MOP for her performance. She bested her opponent by 11.25 points to help the Tigers win the meet, 13-5.
 
Auburn will kick off the postseason at the 2024 SEC Championship in Bryan-College Station, Texas, March 29-30. The Tigers will be the No. 3 seed and will take on No. 2 seed Georgia at the Hildebrand Equine Complex.
