AUBURN, Ala. – Junior Sophia Groth of the No. 14 Auburn gymnastics team was named to the SEC Community Service Team, the league announced Friday.
 
Groth, of West Des Moines, Iowa, has been a key member of the Auburn community and has been serving the greater Auburn area since the moment she came to the Plains.
 
She has been a big participant in the local school system, reading at multiple elementary schools and preschools in the Auburn area. In addition, she has served at the Leader Luncheon at Pick Elementary, encouraging acts of leadership among the kids while having lunch with them.
 
Groth and her team have performed gymnastics demonstrations throughout the area, promoting the importance of active lifestyles. She has also been a guest speaker at multiple schools in the area through Fellowship of Christian Athletes, sharing her story and encouraging the next generation of athletes.
 
On top of her service to local schools, Groth has continued her role in local food and toy drives. She has participated and led food drives that help feed fellow college students who have food insecurities. Groth also spearheaded a major toy drive in the Auburn area that supplies presents to kids in need in December.
 
She has continued to serve on Title IX panels and has been active with Habitat for Humanity, the Boys & Girls Club, the Hudson Family Foundation, Baby Steps, Christian Care Ministries and many other organizations.
