AUBURN, Ala. – No. 10 Auburn will return to action after a brief break from competition at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic over the weekend. The event will be played on Friday and Saturday at the UGA Golf Course in Athens, Georgia.
The Tigers will be defending their title from 2023, when they won the rain-shortened event by 11 strokes over second-place South Carolina.
"UGA Golf Course is a great course and we play it well," said Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen. "It's an easy trip for us and we look forward to it every year. There are a lot of uneven lies, elevated greens and some places you just don't want to be. The greens are usually quick and undulating. It is just a championship golf course."
Auburn will be joined in the field with three other teams inside the nation's top 25: No. 15 Florida, No. 23 Virginia and No. 25 Georgia.
The Tigers recorded their sixth top-5 finish of the season in the last event at the Valspar Invitational. Megan Schofill led the team individually, shooting 3-under over all three rounds. Schofill began the tournament strong with an opening round 68 on Friday and finished in a tie for sixth place individually for her fourth top-10 finish this season.
Schofill's season scoring average of 71.24 currently ranks ninth in the SEC and she will enter the event with 387 career birdies, just seven shy of Cydney Clanton's program record.
The event will begin with 36 holes and a shotgun start on Friday followed by 18 holes with tee times on Saturday. Auburn will begin the event at 7:30 a.m. CT on hole No. 1 through No. 3 at UGA Golf Course. Live scoring of the tournament will be available online at Golfstat.com and the GolfStat mobile app.
