No. 1 Auburn five back of lead after day one at Pinehurst Intercollegiate

PINEHURST, N.C. — Auburn men's golf sits in third place at 13-over and is five shots back of the leading score following Monday's 36 holes of play at Pinehurst No. 2 in Pinehurst, North Carolina. 

The Tigers shot 6-over in round one and 7-over in round two. No. 15 ETSU leads all squads at 8-over heading into Tuesday's finale. 

Auburn's low man on the day was freshman Jackson Koivun. The rookie carded a pair of even-par 70s and sits at third on the individual leaderboard. Ryan Eshleman follows behind in eighth after a 70-72 (+2) day. Carson Bacha is the third Tiger represented in the top 15 after shooting 70-73 (+3). Brendan Valdes is 8-over following a 76 (+6) and a 72 (+2), and Cayden Pope hangs tough at 12-over following a 77 (+7) and a 75 (+5). Individual player Reed Lotter shot 72(+2)-74(+4) and 6-over. 

For the final round of competition, players will remain in lineup order and forego a reseeding for tee times. Lotter tees off hole 1 at 6:50 a.m. CT while Eshleman will lead off for the team, also going off 1, at 7:50 a.m. CT. The Tigers will play the final round with host Wake Forest and ETSU.
