AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn men's tennis senior Raul Dobai and Auburn women's tennis graduate student Selin Ovunc have been named to the SEC Community Service Team, the conference announced on Thursday.
Dobai, who is in his third season on The Plains, participated in community service initiatives through his involvement with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SACC) including volunteering with the Auburn campus food pantry. Dobai is also a member of a serve team at his home church in Auburn, where he volunteers his time during worship services.
The Vancouver, Canada native has regularly played at the No. 1 doubles position for the Tigers this season with Finn Murgett. The duo have a 9-9 dual match record and hold an ITA doubles ranking of 23rd.
Ovunc has now been named to the SEC Community Service team for the second consecutive year. Ovunc has made a major impact in communities outside of the United States. After multiple earthquakes hit her home country of Turkey in 2023, Ovunc raised awareness and encouraged donations to the AHBAP on campus with the Turkish Student Organization. Ovunc also assisted in holding fundraisers that benefited earthquake victims. Ovunc was instrumental in opening a refugee area for earthquake victims after the tragedy as well.
In the Auburn community, Ovunc has previously done voluntary community work at Dean Road Elementary School where has spent time with students talking about her experiences as a student-athlete at Auburn and answering their questions. Additionally, Ovunc previously fostered a dog for the Pups on the Plains' Rescue Team, a student-run organization with the mission of pulling dogs out of shelters and teaching them how to become home pets through fostering.
The Ankara, Turkey native has played most of the season at the No. 4 and No. 5 singles position for Auburn and has a 20-8 overall doubles record this season dating back to the fall.
