AUBURN, Ala. – No. 10 Auburn will begin its postseason this week at the SEC Championship at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida. The championship will be taking place at a new venue for the first time since 2013, as it has moved away from Greystone Country Club in Birmingham, Alabama.

"Fortunately, I think we're all in the same place as everyone else since nobody else has played the golf course either," said Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen. "I've already marked up the yardage book with places to be and not to be. It's a Donald Ross designed golf course and a lot of our girls have played Donald Ross courses before.

"They'll be a lot of different styles of shots than what we would normally play. The course looks wide open on the fairways, but it's a second shot course, so the angle into the green is really important so you can't just think you'll be able to just tee it up and rip it."

Auburn will enter the event after finishing in the top five in each of its last five tournaments including a win in its most recent event at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. The Tigers have a team round scoring average of 286.89.

Redshirt sophomore Casey Weidenfeld recently competed in her first career appearance at the Augusta National Women's Amateur, where she finished in a tie for fifth place after shooting a final round 70 (-2) at historic Augusta National Golf Club on Saturday. This season, Weidenfeld has a scoring average of 71.96, which is second-best on the team, as well as 12 rounds under par and 85 birdies this season.

Fifth-year senior Megan Schofill, who will be playing in her final SEC Championship this week, has a long history of impressive performances at the event. Schofill finished as the individual runner-up at the tournament in each of the last two seasons and was a member of the 2021 SEC Championship winning team in 2021.

This season, the Monticello, Florida native has posted a scoring average of 71.46 and continues to hold the program record for lowest scoring average at 72.01 (minimum 60 rounds). Additionally, Schofill will enter the event tied with Cydney Clanton for most birdies in an Auburn career with 394.

All 14 SEC schools will be represented in the field, including eight other schools ranked inside the nation's top-25: No. 2 South Carolina, No. 4 LSU, No. 9 Arkansas, No. 13 Ole Miss, No. 15 Florida, No. 16 Texas A&M, No. 20 Vanderbilt and No. 23 Georgia.

All 14 teams will compete in 54 holes of stroke play Friday through Sunday and the individual champion and individual runner-up will be determined following stroke play. Then, the top eight teams will advance for match play competition that will be held on Monday and Tuesday.

During Friday's opening round, Auburn will be paired with players from Ole Miss beginning at 7:20 a.m. CT. Live scoring of the full event will be available online at Golfstat.com and Tuesday's championship match will be televised on SEC Network.
