BELLEAIR, Fla. – No. 10 Women's golf is in third place through two rounds of stroke play at the SEC Championship on Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida. The Tigers posted a second round score of 3-over (283) on Saturday and has a 36-hole score of 562 (+2). Freshman Anna Davis moved into the top-5 individually after firing a second round under par on day two.

"This golf course is mentally exhausting to play," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said after the round. "You just can't let down on any shot. There are birdie opportunities, but there are also opportunities for big numbers. We had a few too many on our card today, but overall I thought we played really solid and we didn't get started that great. But they really dug in and played well.

"It was great to see Megan [Schofill] play well. A tough 18th hole, but I thought overall she gave me confidence. The shot that Casey [Weidenfeld] had on 18- just knowing her game, picking the right club and being aggressive- I love that. The players just have to remember that knowing their game, playing their game, knowing when to be assertive and when to play a little smarter out here."

The field of SEC teams were treated to a beautiful day with clear skies and comfortable conditions other than constantly changing winds at Pelican Golf Club.

After not contributing to the team score in the opening round, Megan Schofill bounced back and provided the best score of the day for the Tigers, a 2-under 68. Schofill started the day well, with birdies on two of the first three holes of the round.

The Auburn veteran made the turn at 1-under and recorded three consecutive birdies: a chip-in on No. 14, an uphill putt from across the green on No. 15 and an impressive downhill putt on No. 16. Schofill has recorded eight birdies in the event and is in a tie for 19th place individually at 2-over (142).

Davis mirrored her opening round of 69 (-1) on Friday with a second one on Saturday. Her second round card included five birdies including three in the final four holes of the front nine. Davis, like Schofill, is just two birdies shy of the most in the field with eight and is the highest positioned freshman in a tie for fifth.

Casey Weidenfeld remains in the top-15 through two rounds, as she recorded a 72 (+2) on Saturday. Weidenfeld had a difficult start to her round, being 3-over through five holes, but bounced back with a couple of birdies later in the round. Weidenfeld finished the round in a tie for 13th on the individual leaderboard.

Katie Cranston provided the final counting score of the day for Auburn, firing a 4-over 74. Cranston's 36-hole score of 144 (+4) places her in a tie for 24th individually.
As a team, Auburn has dominated the par-3s at Pelican Golf Club, playing them at 7-under over both rounds. The Tigers also recorded 33 birdies on Friday and Saturday, which is the most of any team in the field by five.

Auburn will enter the final round of stroke play on Sunday five strokes behind the tournament leader, South Carolina, and six shots ahead of fourth-place Mississippi State.
"We want to win stroke play," continued Luellen. "We can see how quickly things can change out here and we're not too many shots out of first place. I think every day we get more comfortable playing this golf course and it's definitely within reach."

The individual champion and individual runner-up will be determined following stroke play on Sunday. Then, the top eight teams will advance for match play competition that will be held on Monday and Tuesday.

Auburn will be paired with players from South Carolina and Texas A&M for the second day in a row on Sunday beginning at 7 a.m. CT. Live scoring of Sunday's round will be available online at Golfstat.com and the Golfstat mobile app.
