AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn fifth-year senior Megan Schofill will tee it up in The Chevron Championship being held on the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course at The Club at Carlton Woods on Thursday through Sunday in The Woodlands, Texas. The tournament is the first of five major championships in women's golf that will be held this year.
The international field features 34 major champions including Lydia Ko and Lilia Vu, 71 LPGA Tour winners and athletes from 26 different countries and regions. The 132-player field will compete to lift the Dinah Shore Trophy, take a leap into the lake at The Club at Carlton Woods and solidify themselves as a major championship winner.
Schofill, who earned an exemption into the field by winning the 2023 U.S. Women's Amateur in August, is one of six amateurs in the field at this year's event.
The Auburn veteran will enter the event just three days after representing the Tigers in the 2024 SEC Championship, where she earned a top-20 individual finish in stroke play. This season for Auburn, Schofill has a 71.44 scoring average and four top-10 individual finishes.
This year marks the 53rd official playing of The Chevron Championship. The tournament was first contested in 1972 and was elevated to major status in 1983. The first two rounds will be held on Thursday and Friday, then the final two rounds will be held on Saturday and Sunday following a 36-hole cut.
Schofill will begin round one on the 10th hole paired with Maria Fassi and Hira Naveed at 8:43 a.m. CT. Golf Channel will have coverage of the major championship's first two rounds from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. CT on Thursday and Friday. Then, NBC will televise rounds three and four from 2-5 p.m. CT on Saturday and Sunday. Live scoring of the event will be available online at lpga.com.
