AUBURN, Ala. – No. 17 Auburn has been selected as the 2-seed at the NCAA regional site in Berkeley, California, the NCAA announced on Monday. The Tigers will be joined at the site by host school California, BYU and Sacramento State.

"I'm from California so always happy to go out there," interim head coach Lester Cook said after the announcement. "I know the Berkeley area really well so personally don't mind the location at all, but we're traveling. It's just a couple more hours on the plane so no big deal. We're feeling good this week and we're ready to get the tournament started."

Auburn will face No. 42 BYU in the first round of the tournament on  Friday at 1 p.m. CT. With an opening round victory, the Tigers would advance to play the winner of No. 10 California and Sacramento State on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT. The winner of the second round match would earn a spot in the Super Regional round.

This season marks the 16th time Auburn has been selected to participate in the NCAA Championship in program history, and the fourth consecutive season the Tigers have received a bid. Auburn has advanced to the Super Regional round in each of the last two seasons.

"We have four graduating seniors, so the overall attitude for the team is that this is the last hurrah," continued Cook. "This last week off was really good for us mentally and physically, and we're really ready to play."
