STILLWATER, Okla. – The Auburn doubles team of Ariana Arseneault and DJ Bennett concluded their time at the NCAA Doubles Championship on Wednesday at the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The pair fell to Peppperdine's Janice Tjen and Savannah Broadus, the second-ranked doubles team in the country, by a 6-3, 6-4 score in the round of 16.
With the first set tied at one, Tjen and Broadus won the next three games to take a 4-1 advantage before going on to win the set 6-3. The Pepperdine duo then won the next set 6-4 to claim the match win.
Arseneault and Bennett, who played most of the season together at the top of the Tigers' doubles lineup during dual matches, finished the season with a 13-4 overall record and defeated six ranked doubles teams this season. Currently, Arseneault and Bennett are ranked No. 15 in the nation by the ITA.
Arseneault, a senior, concluded her college career on Wednesday with 74 career doubles victories and 154 combined victories. Bennett completed her sophomore season with a 28-10 overall doubles record. Her 28 doubles victories was just one shy of the program record for most in a single season.
The ITA released its final team rankings of the 2023-24 season on Wednesday, which featured the Tigers at No. 17. The team has now finished the season in the ITA top-25 for the fourth consecutive year.
