AUBURN, Ala. – No. 7 Women's golf expanded its lead to 14 strokes after the second round of the NCAA Auburn Regional at the Auburn University Club on Tuesday. The Tigers were the only team under par during round two, shooting 1-under (287) for a 36-hole total of 577 (+1).

"I think this is an opportunity to win by a bunch which I really believe that this team has been capable of," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said after the round. "We did win a tournament this spring, but if everybody's on their game like we've talked about, we're trending up. Everyone's playing good at the right time. I'd really like to have a round under par tomorrow and just finish strong just to set the tone for the next tournament."

Freshman Anna Davis tied the best round of the day with a 69 (-3) on Tuesday. Davis navigated the difficult front nine well with a bogey-free 35 (-1) which included a birdie on No. 6. The freshman caught fire near the end of her round, recording a birdie and an eagle on back-to-back holes on No. 15 and No. 16 at Auburn University Club.

Davis' second shot on No. 16, a par 5, rolled onto the front of the green from 220 yards out before she made the long eagle putt of around 65 feet. She became the second Auburn player to eagle the hole during the event, as Megan Schofill recorded one on Monday. Davis' round moved her into a tie for second place individually at 2-under for the tournament (142).

"I felt like it was very consistent," Davis said about her second round. "Lots of pars, lots of fairways and lots of greens. I was just struggling to make a putt but had a good last five holes and started to see some go in which was nice.

"Usually the play [on No. 16] is just to get it somewhere to the front of the green so I just hit a five iron, got it onto the front edge and made a bomb. I think it was a good way to finish off the round."

Schofill is tied with Davis in second place for the tournament after carding a 73 (+1) on Tuesday. Schofill played consistent golf on the opening nine with pars on each of the first eight holes and a birdie on the ninth. After giving up a stroke on No. 10, Schofill bounced back by sticking her approach on No. 13 to within 15 feet to birdie the par 5. She has played the par-5s at 5-under par over the past two rounds, which is the best mark of any player in the field.

Casey Weidenfeld was one of six players in red figures during round two, as she recorded a 2-under 70. Weidenfeld picked up momentum after hitting her approach to inside 10 feet for a birdie on the ninth hole before recording three back nine birdies. The redshirt sophomore moved up 14 spots on the individual leaderboard and into a tie for sixth place with a two-day score of 145 (+1). Weidenfeld's seven birdies in the event is one shy of the most in the field.

Senior Anna Foster had the Tigers' final counting score of the day on Tuesday, as she shot a 75 (+3) that was highlighted by back-to-back birdies on No. 16 and No. 17. Foster's 36-hole score of 148 (+4) places her in a tie for 14th individually.
Auburn will be paired with players from Houston and North Carolina in the final round of the regional on Wednesday beginning at 8 a.m. CT.
