WICHITA, Kan. – In her second week with Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball, Maddie Penta continued to put up consistent numbers for Team Alo during Series 2 of AUX.
Penta was selected in the fifth round of the Series 2 draft by Oklahoma softball alumna Jocelyn Alo and saw action in a pair of games.
The 2023 SEC Pitcher of the Year earned her lone start of Series 2 on Monday. She recorded a career high three strikeouts in her two innings of work. Penta’s best outing of the week came on Wednesday as she tossed three scoreless frames of relief, scattering three hits and striking out two.
Heading into the final series of AUX, Penta stands 39th on the leaderboard behind 496 points. She ranks third among all pitchers with 11 strikeouts. In her 12.0 innings of work, she has allowed just six earned runs for a 3.41 ERA. She’s held opponents to a .283 mark at the plate.
On Thursday, the Chesapeake City, Maryland native was drafted in the seventh round to Team Mazon, captained by Oregon State’s Mariah Mazon, for Series 3. Alo and Bubba Nickles will captain the additional teams. The final series begins on Saturday with a doubleheader for Penta and Team Mazon, beginning at 12 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
