Lee kicks off U.S. Olympic Trials with a strong showing

Defending Olympic gold medalist and recent Auburn Tiger Sunisa Lee kicked off the first day of the 2024 U.S. Team Olympic Trials Friday night at the Target Center in Minneapolis.

MINNEAPOLIS – Defending Olympic gold medalist and recent Auburn Tiger Sunisa Lee kicked off the first day of the 2024 U.S. Team Olympic Trials Friday night at the Target Center in Minneapolis.

The St. Paul native finished the night in 56.025 in the all-around after putting together big scores on bars and beam. Her 14.4 on beam finished on top on the leaderboard, while another 14.4 on bars came in third. Her all-around total placed her third overall after day one. 

Lee led off the evening with a 13.525 on vault and capped the first day of the Trials with a 13.7 on floor.

The second and final day of the U.S. Team Olympic Trials will be held Sunday night starting at 7 p.m. CT. Competition will be held in the Target Center in Minneapolis.
