AUBURN, Ala. – Led by head coach Butch Thompson, Auburn baseball was named a recipient of the American Baseball Coaches Association’s 2023-24 Team Academic Excellence Award.
It marks the first time since the award began in 2016 that Auburn has earned the recognition. The Tigers are one of seven Southeastern Conference programs to earn the distinction this season.
The award honors high school and college programs coached by a current ABCA member that achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for the 2023-24 academic year.
The Tigers turned in a 3.08 GPA for the academic year, including a 3.26 GPA for the spring semester. Thirty-seven players turned in a GPA of 3.0 or higher in the spring, including five players with a 4.0 GPA. Additionally, 15 players were named to the 2023-24 First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll and 15 were named to the 2024 Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll.
