AUBURN, Ala. – A handful of Auburn equestrian members used the summer to gain valuable experiences not only in their area of study, but also for life whether they stay in the United States or travel abroad!

Sophomore Brooke Jolstad, an aviation management major, worked on getting her private pilot’s license as well as working an internship with USB.

Q: Where did you spend your summer and what was your role?
A: “I was spending the summer interning for UBS Financial, specifically with the sports and entertainment division as well as the Montage Group. My role there was to assist the financial advisors and work on projects to find a better organization system. I also generated financial reports for current and potential Montage client meetings, conducted market research for the team’s financial advisors, and executed general office administrative tasks.”

Q: What made you interested in this internship?
A: “I have always had an interest in financial advising and it was a great opportunity to explore and learn more about many different positions in the financial world.”

Q: How did Auburn help you prepare for this internship?
A: “Auburn has helped me to prepare for this internship from classes that I have taken to the CONNECT program they have for student-athletes. My public speaking class prepared me for interviews and projects I had to present in front of my colleagues. CONNECT helped me to develop a resume, learn how to dress in a business environment, and make connections with people I meet.”

Q: What made you interested in the area of study you are pursuing at Auburn?
A: “My current major is Aviation Management. I became interested in this area of study because I have been studying to get my Pilots License and I wanted to develop a better understanding for the business side of aviation.”

Q: How have you been able to balance school and prepare yourself for life after Auburn, while also being a successful student-athlete?
A: “I have been able to balance school, life at Auburn, and being a successful student-athlete by having developed good time management and organization skills. Auburn has provided me with many resources to help me through this with tutoring, study hours, and amazing athletic and academic counselors.”
