AUBURN, Ala. — After leading the Tigers’ defense to a dominant, two-shutout weekend at home, Auburn soccer senior LJ Knox was voted the Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Knox and the Auburn backline surrendered zero goals and just two shots over 180 minutes of competition. Neither of the conceded shots were placed on frame.

Three matches into the 2024 season, the Tigers have outscored their opponents 13-0. It is just the third time in program history, and first time since 2015, that Auburn has begun the year with three consecutive shutout victories.

This week, Knox and company hit the road for their first away test of the season, traveling to South Alabama Thursday, Aug. 29, for a 7 p.m. CT match at The Cage. On Sunday, Sept. 1, the Tigers return home to host App State at 1 p.m. CT.
