Raul Dobai joins men’s tennis coaching staff

AUBURN, Ala. – Recent Auburn tennis alumnus Raul Dobai has joined the Auburn men’s tennis staff as an assistant coach, head coach Bobby Reynolds announced on Monday.

“I am thrilled to have Raul joining the Auburn men’s tennis staff,” said Reynolds. “He has a genuine passion for making a positive impact on those around him and I know he will be an invaluable asset to our program.”

Dobai spent three seasons on the Plains, compiling a 35-24 singles record and a 27-24 doubles record. The Vancouver, Canada native was selected to participate in the NCAA Doubles Championship in both 2023 and 2024.

In his final season in 2023-24, Dobai and doubles partner Finn Murgett earned four ranked victories including No. 4 Angel Diaz and Johannus Monday and Tennessee as well as No. 10 Toby Samuel and Casey Hoole of South Carolina. The year prior, the Tigers top doubles team picked up eight ranked doubles victories including over No. 4 Will Grant and Axel Nefve of Florida. The duo finished the 2024 season ranked No. 21 in doubles by the ITA and finished the 2023 season ranked No. 17.

As a senior, Dobai provided key singles wins in the Tigers’ top-25 victories over No. 23 Alabama and No. 11 Texas A&M. During his sophomore season, he provided the match-clinching victory over Ole Miss in the SEC Tournament.

Dobai began his collegiate career at New Mexico, where he was named Mountain West Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year after leading the Lobos to a conference title with a 21-17 singles record and a 20-15 doubles record before transferring to Auburn.

Prior to his time in college, Dobai played for Tennis Canada. He also won a pair of ITF G5 titles and was the British Columbia Provincial Champion.

Dobai graduated from Auburn in May with a degree in Exercise, Performance & Health from the College of Education.
