BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Auburn men’s golf sophomore Josiah Gilbert was named the Southeastern Conference’s Golfer of the Week after earning the first individual win of his collegiate career earlier in the week at the Valero Texas Collegiate, the league office announced Wednesday.
Gilbert shot 66-67-71 (-12) to tie for first in the 90-man field competing at TPC San Antonio. His cumulative total, 12-under, also set a new personal best for low tournament score.
Gilbert led the Tigers to a third-place finish at 19-under overall. Auburn finished ahead of five other ranked programs, including top-10 squads Tennessee and Vanderbilt.
Up next, Gilbert and company head back to Texas to compete in the Ben Hogan Collegiate at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth from Sept. 30 - Oct. 1.
