AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn men’s golf is back in action for its third tournament of the season as the No. 1 Tigers head to Fort Worth, Texas for the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational, set for Sept. 30 – Oct. 1 at Colonial Country Club.
“I think we’ve yet to come close to a full-tournament performance so far,” Tigers head coach Nick Clinard said. “I’m looking for us to play our best golf, smart golf, from hole one to 54. If we want to win in a field this deep and this skilled, that’s going to be a requirement.”
Representing the Orange & Blue this week are Jackson Koivun, Brendan Valdes, Josiah Gilbert, Carson Bacha and Billy Davis. Gilbert was the squad’s low man last week in a 12-under performance at the Valero Texas Collegiate, earning his first career win and a nod as SEC Golfer of the Week.
The field at Colonial this week includes No. 7 Alabama, No. 2 Arizona State, No. 21 Georgia, No. 17 Georgia Tech, No. 16 North Carolina, No. 8 Oklahoma, RV Oregon, No. 22 Stanford, No. 11 Texas, No. 19 Texas A&M, TCU, No. 14 Texas Tech, No. 4 Vanderbilt and RV Wake Forest.
Auburn kickstarts Monday’s 36 holes of action in a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. CT alongside Arizona State and Vanderbilt. The Tigers will begin play on holes 8-11.
Golfstat is set to provide scoring for the duration of the tournament. The low medalist will receive an exemption into the 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge.
