PENSACOLA, Fla. - Auburn baseball opened its fall exhibition schedule with a strong showing Saturday in Pensacola, Florida, defeating 2024 College World Series participant Florida State 4-1 and 9-5 in a pair of seven-inning games. 

Highlighting Auburn's efforts, the pitching staff of 13 hurlers, including eight newcomers, threw 65 percent strikes and turned in 20 strikeouts to go along with issuing four walks across 14 innings. The Tigers walked just one batter in the first 10 frames. 

Offensively, the Tigers tallied their 13 runs on 21 hits, including six doubles and a triple. Seven players collected multiple hits in the exhibition with Ike Irish, Chris Rembert, Eric Guevara and D'Marion Terrell leading the way with three hits apiece.

Rembert tied for the team lead with three hits in the 14 innings, all of which went for extra bases. He drove in a combined four runs, including the go-ahead, bases-clearing triple in the second inning of game two, and scored three runs. Defensively, Rembert played left field and second base, recording an outfield assist in game one. 

Pitcher of the Game: Cade Fisher

Fisher started on the mound for the Tigers and turned in 1.2 scoreless innings with no walks and two strikeouts to set the tone in the game. He retired five of the seven batters he faced, allowing just two baserunners on a hit batter and a single, before giving way with two outs in the second inning. 

Defensive Player of the Game: Eric Snow

Defensive Player of the Game: Eric Snow

Snow started game one at second base and played all seven innings with a hit and RBI before entering as a defensive replacement at shortstop in game two. He slid over out of his position to cover third base and cut down a baserunner in the late stages of game two.
