AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn sophomore guard Taliah Scott has been named to the Ann Meyers-Drysdale Shooting Guard of the Year Award watch list, it was announced Tuesday by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
Scott, a 5-8 sophomore from Orange Park, Florida, averaged 22.1 points per game for Arkansas in 2023-24 before transferring to Auburn in the offseason. For her efforts, she earned a selection to the SEC All-Freshman Team. Scott also averaged 3.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists while shooting 40.7 percent from the field and 83.8 percent at the free-throw line.
In 20 games for Arkansas last year, she scored 20-plus points 13 times, including three games in the 30s. She was named SEC Freshman of the week four times.
The Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, in its eighth year, honors the top shooting guard in women's NCAA Division I college basketball. It is named after the Class of 1993 Hall of Famer, the first player, regardless of gender, to be chosen for an All-America Team in four consecutive college seasons.
Fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting in each of the three rounds starting on Friday, November 1. In late January, the watch list of 20 players for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award will be narrowed to 10, and then in late February, to just five. In March, the five finalists will be presented to Meyers Drysdale, and the Hall of Fame’s selection committees, where winners will be selected. The Selection Committees for Ann Meyers Drysdale Award are composed of top women’s college basketball personnel, including media members, head coaches, sports information directors, and Hall of Famers.
Auburn plays an exhibition game against LaGrange College at 6 p.m. CT Thursday at Neville Arena; admission is free. The season officially opens Monday, Nov. 4, when the Tigers host Southern Illinois.
