AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn sophomore Anna Davis has been named to the Final Fall ANNIKA Award Watch List, the Haskins Foundation announced on Tuesday.
Davis was one of the 25 golfers who appeared on the watch list and one of nine SEC golfers on the prestigious list.
The sophomore had one of the most dominant performances of any player in the nation during the fall portion of the Tigers’ schedule. Davis finished within the top three individually in all four of the team’s fall tournaments and was named SEC Player of the Week twice. At the Illini Invitational at Medinah, Davis carded the lowest 54-hole score in program history (203) and claimed the individual title.
The Spring Valley, California native also fired an opening round 64 (-6) at the Schooner Fall Classic which tied the lowest round in Auburn history. Davis holds a scoring average of 68.64 this season, which is the best scoring average of any player in the Southeastern Conference.
As a freshman, Davis was named second team All-American and All-Freshman honors from the WGCA as well as second team All-SEC, and SEC All-Freshman honors. Davis finished her freshman season with a 71.68 scoring average, four top-10 individual finishes and low medalist honors at the NCAA Auburn Regional
Created in 2014, the ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel is annually given to the top female Division I collegiate golfer; the winner voted on by players, coaches and members of the college golf media.
Named for Annika Sorenstam, the award was created in partnership with the Haskins Foundation to acknowledge the top female golfer and to match the Haskins Award presented by Stifel, which acknowledges the top male Division I collegiate golfer.
