AUBURN, Ala. – Former Auburn gymnast and current graduate assistant Cassie Stevens Pruitt was named a recipient of the NCAA Today’s Top 10 Award, the national office announced last week.
“I feel like this is the perfect culmination of my whole career and all the hard work that’s been put in the gym and in the classroom,” Pruitt said. “This was an exciting award to win because I know how prestigious it is. This really means a lot.”
The award recognizes former student-athletes for their exceptional athletic and academic achievements, as well as their contributions to their campuses and communities.
Pruitt earned a pair of Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association All-America honors on vault and in the all-around throughout her career and won a Southeastern Conference title on vault in 2023.
She received several academic honors throughout her time with the program, including a pair of College Sports Communicators Academic All-America recognitions, and twice was named an SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She also received the NCAA Ethnic Minority and Women's Enhancement Graduate Scholarship.
In the community, she has volunteered for Toys for Tots, the Ronald McDonald House as well as participated in many activities with the local school system.
The Today's Top 10 awardees were selected by the NCAA Honors Committee, composed of representatives from NCAA member schools and conferences, as well as nationally distinguished citizens, including past awardees.
The awardees will be celebrated Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the NCAA Convention Welcome and Awards Presentation in Nashville, Tennessee.
