AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn standouts Jarquez Hunter and Cam Coleman earned Southeastern Conference weekly honors, the SEC announced Monday.
Hunter, a senior running back, is the league’s offensive player of the week. Coleman, a first-year receiver, is the freshman of the week.
In Auburn’s 43-41 four-overtime win over Texas A&M Saturday, Hunter scored three touchdowns and rushed for 130 yards on 28 carries, adding 23 receiving yards on four catches in his Jordan-Hare Stadium finale.
Hunter, who ranks No. 6 in program history with 3,315 rushing yards, has logged four 100-yard games this season and 12 in his career.
Hunter also received national recognition from the Shrine Bowl, earning its Offensive Breakout Player of the Week honor for the second time this season after first achieving it for his 278-yard rushing performance vs. Kentucky.
Coleman scored two touchdowns in the first half, a 63-yarder and a 15-yarder, recording his second straight 100-yard game with seven receptions for 128 yards.
Coleman and senior receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith are the first Auburn receivers since Sammie Coates in 2013 to produce back-to-back 100-yard receiving games.
The Tigers’ wins over ULM and Texas A&M are the first time in school history Auburn has had a 100-yard rusher (Hunter) and two 100-yard receivers in consecutive games.
Quarterback Payton Thorne also earned national recognition as one of the Davey O’Brien Award’s Great 8. Thorne threw for 301 yards and a pair of touchdown passes against the Aggies, giving him 20 for the season.
