AUBURN, Ala. - Following an outstanding performance at the 2024 NCAA Cross Country Championships, freshman Brenda Jepchirchir secured U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-America honors, the USTFCCCA office announced Monday.
Athletes earned All-America distinctions by finishing in the top 40 in their gender’s respective races at the championships this past Saturday in Madison, Wisconsin.
Racing on the Thomas Zimmer Cross Country Course, Jepchirchir finished the women’s 6k race in 19:51.90, beating out 234 competitors. She crossed the line in 21st place.
“I’m really proud of Brenda and really excited about her future as she continues to come back to this meet in the coming years,” Auburn cross country coach Aaron Kindt said. “She went for it from the beginning and put herself in a fantastic position to have a chance to be top 25 and finish as an All-American.”
In her debut season for the Tigers, Jepchirchir has earned SEC Women’s Runner of the Week, SEC Women’s Second Team, SEC Women’s All-Freshman Team, SEC Women’s Freshman of the Year and USTFCCCA All-Region honors.
