AUBURN, AL – A new era of Auburn softball is beginning under the direction of co-head coaches Chris and Kate Malveaux and with them are eight new Tigers on The Plains looking to help make a mark in year one.

The final newcomer to the 2025 roster, Kylie Brockman joined the Tigers after competing at Arkansas during her freshman season. Raised in Kansas City, Kansas, this multi-sport athlete was a two-time powerlifting state champion and a Kansas 5A state runner-up in javelin.

Q: How old were you when you started playing softball?

Brockman: I was probably around the age of five or six when I first started playing tee-ball. I remember playing at the local county fields on a co-ed team coached by my dad. The best part: postgame snacks that parents would provide for us!

Q: Who has influenced your softball career the most?

Brockman:  My dad has influenced my softball career the most. He was the one to first put me in tee-ball and has grown through the sport with me. He has coached me, drove me to countless practices, lessons, and tournaments, has helped me through the hardest days, travelled the country for travel ball and college games and has believed in me and pushed me to be the best person and player possible.

Q: What advice would you give your younger self?

Brockman: I would tell her to live in the moment and be where your feet are. As I get older, its easy to look forward instead of enjoying where you are at this exact moment. It really does fly by, and I want to enjoy every second I have playing the sport I love.

Q: Why did you decide Auburn was the best fit to continue your collegiate career?

Brockman: I decided that Auburn was the best fit to continue my collegiate career for many reasons. One of them being the culture and atmosphere that coach Chris and Kate are bringing to the team. This is a place where I can be loved, pushed to my highest potential and become the best softball player and woman I can be. I have never met a more genuine, hard-working and knowledgeable staff that compliments each other so well. I felt at home when I visited and knew that this is where I wanted to be.

Q: How have your new teammates helped you adjust since arriving on campus?

Brockman: I have been welcomed with open arms by every teammate. We have spent quality time together outside of softball that has helped instantly build friendships and relationships. At practice we have fun, work hard and work towards our goals together.

Q: What’s your major? What are your plans following your playing career?

Brockman: My major is exercise science, and I plan on later attending nursing school with hopes to work in a hospital!

Q: What’s one word to describe yourself on the field and one word to describe yourself off the field?

Brockman: On the field, I am a competitor. I am very locked in and focused on the moment. Off the field, I would say I am very easy-going and fun. I love to joke with people and make the most fun out of what we're doing! You will often see me with a smile on my face!

Q: If you could trade places with a coach for a day, who would you pick?

Brockman: I would choose coach Kate because I genuinely do not know how she has so much knowledge and energy. She can do it all, and I would love to be in her mind and experience her thoughts for the day!

Q: What uniform combo are you most looking forward to wearing?

Brockman: I really love the look of the all blue uniform, but have never wore pinstripes. I am excited to wear those for the first time!

This season is one to look forward to! Everyone within the program is working extremely hard to accomplish goals, and I can't wait to play in front of the Auburn Family!

Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

Brockman: I would chose to be able to fly. I would be able to save so much time, go anywhere I want and experience a whole other life.

Q: If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Brockman: I would eat steak and potatoes for the rest of my life. I feel like that is a meal that I could have forever and never get tired of it!

Q: How is Auburn different from your hometown?

Brockman: Being from the Midwest, Auburn is definitely a little different from Kansas. The people are very put together, proper and kind. The humidity and rain has been something to get used to, but I am looking forward to the rare occurrence of snow!

Q: Describe your perfect slice of pizza…

Brockman: Loaded with different kinds of meat, cheesy and stuffed crust!

Q: Do you have any hidden hobbies or talents?

Brockman: I can wiggle my ears without moving any of my face!

Q: If you could give a message to the Auburn Family about the upcoming season, what would it be?

Brockman: This season is one to look forward to! Everyone within the program is working extremely hard to accomplish goals, and I can't wait to play in front of the Auburn Family!
