AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn’s Ava Hrastar and Ava Esposito will each be competing for bids to the NCAA Singles Championship this week at the ITA South Sectional Championships at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Georgia.

Both Hrastar and Esposito will be in the field of 32 players vying for the singles sectional title. The event will begin Thursday with the finals scheduled to be played on Sunday. The first round, second round and first round of consolation matches will be played on Thursday. The quarterfinals and consolation quarterfinals round will take place on Friday, the semifinals and consolation semifinals will be held Saturday and both the main draw finals and consolation finals will wrap up the event on Sunday.

Six singles players from the tournament will earn a spot in the NCAA Singles Championship. All four semifinalists and two quarterfinal playoff winners will receive the bids.

Hrastar, who already has a bid to the NCAA Doubles Championship with partner DJ Bennett, enters the event with a 7-3 singles record this fall. The Auburn graduate student reached the singles quarterfinals of the ITA Southern Regional Championship last month.

Esposito will enter Athens with an 8-5 overall singles record this fall and coming off a solid performance at the Roberta Alison Fall Classic.

The ITA South Section includes teams from the ITA’s Ohio Valley, Southeast and Southern regions.
