AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn graduate forward DeYona Gaston was named SEC Co-Player of the Week for women’s basketball, the conference office announced Monday.

Gaston, a 6-2 forward from Houston, Texas, averaged 32.0 points and 8.5 rebounds in the Tigers’ two wins over Louisiana-Lafayette and Alabama State last week to send Auburn into the holiday break on a four-game winning streak.

In Wednesday’s road game at ULL, Gaston recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 29 points and 10 rebounds in Auburn’s 68-51 win. It was Auburn’s highest individual scoring total in a road game since 2019.

Three days later, she was one point shy of matching a career-high with a 35-point effort in Auburn’s 83-40 win over Alabama State. Gaston hit 14-of-17 attempts from the field in the win.

Along with a 36-point effort against Virginia-Lynchburg earlier this season, she owns the two highest-scoring games in Neville Arena history by an Auburn player. She is also the first player in Auburn history with two 35-point games in the same season and just the second with two 35-point games in a career.

It’s the first weekly honor for Gaston in the SEC and the second overall of her career; she was Big 12 Player of the Week at Texas in December of 2022.

Gaston and the Tigers will have this week off for the Christmas break before returning to action Sunday, Dec. 29, at home against Norfolk State. Game time is 2 p.m. CT at Neville Arena.
