BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Auburn track & field freshman Kanyinsola Ajayi was selected as the SEC Men's Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Making his outdoor season debut for the Tigers at last weekends Yellow Jacket Invitational in Atlanta, Ajayi finished first in the men's 100m dash with a time of 10.21. He clocked the No. 6 time in the nation.
The Lagos Ikorodu, Nigeria native also competed in the men's 4x100m where the relay team took gold. The quartet holds the fastest event time in the nation and the seventh fastest time in Auburn history (38.74).
Ajayi finished first in the 60m with a time of 6.60 at the SEC Indoor Track & Field Championships. He was named to the All-SEC First Team. Ajayi was selected as the 2024 SEC Men's Indoor Track & Field Freshman Runner of the Year for his efforts throughout the season.
Ajayi and the Tigers will be back in action Thursday, March 21, at the FSU Relays in Tallahassee, Florida.
