AUBURN, Ala - The top-ranked Auburn equestrian team has welcomed 22 new faces to the squad in 2024-25 and it’s time to get to know them!
Today’s feature is Meghan McFadden!
Class: Junior
Hometown: Huntsville, Alabama
Discipline: Jumping Seat.
Q: What made you want to go to Auburn?
A: “I am in-state, so I came to Auburn so I could be closer to home.”
Q: What is your major and what do you plan to do with it after you graduate?
A: “My major is public relations with a minor in marketing, and I hope to do something in either the entertainment or fashion industries.”
Q: What is your favorite Auburn tradition and why?
A: “My favorite Auburn tradition is the eagle flight at the football games! I think it is so fun and gets me super excited for the games.”
Q: What are you looking forward to in the spring part of season and what has been your favorite part so far now that the fall is done?
A: “I am looking forward to spending the spring season gearing up for the SEC and NCEA Championships with the team.”
Q: How long have you been riding horses and what was the name of your first horse?
A: “I have been riding for 15 years, and my first horse was a pony named Gracie.”
Q: What has been your favorite riding memory throughout your entire time with the sport?
A: “My favorite riding memory was when I was at a show with my best friend Alex. We were going to take our horses Fin and Carl for a trail ride around the show but once we were out there it started pouring rain on us, but we were already too far from the barn, so we finished our trail ride and got soaked and just laughed at ourselves the whole time.”
Q: What is it like joining the team after your freshman year?
A: “Joining the team as a junior has definitely been an adjustment, but I have made so many new friends and had such a great first semester learning the ropes and getting to represent Auburn with such a great team.”
Q: Where is your favorite place to be on campus or around Auburn and why?
A: “My favorite place on campus is probably the rooftop at HHH. I love to go up there when the weather is nice to study or just hang out with friends.”
Q: What is your favorite Auburn sport to go to and why?
A: “My favorite sport to go to at Auburn is baseball. I like how casual and fun it is and I love to go with my friends and hang out with them.”
Q: What are some hobbies that you like to do outside of riding?
A: “When I’m not riding, I love shopping, painting, and watching movies.”
Q: What is your favorite trip you have taken or your dream trip that you want to take?
A: “My favorite trip I’ve ever taken was when I studied abroad in Seville, Spain for a month last year.”
Q: What is your favorite home cooked meal and what makes it so special?
A: “My favorite home cooked meal is my mom’s chicken and dumplings. It was always my favorite when I was little and it’s just always been my favorite comfort food.”
Q: What has been the best concert you’ve ever attended?
A: “I have been to so many good ones I don’t even know which to choose, but probably either Maggie Rogers or Noah Kahan.”
Q: If you could have any actor portray you in a movie, who would it be and why?
A: “I’ve been told before that I look like Hailee Steinfeld, so maybe her? I don’t really see it, but she is in one of my favorite movies, The Edge of Seventeen, so I’ll take it I guess!”
