AUBURN, Ala - The top-ranked Auburn equestrian team has welcomed 22 new faces to the squad in 2024-25 and it’s time to get to know them!

Up next we have Isabel McGovern!

Class: Freshman
Hometown: Woodside, California
Discipline: Jumping Seat


Q: Why Auburn?
A: “I chose Auburn because it is the only place in the country that has both a D1 equestrian team and offers industrial design as a major. I also really loved the atmosphere here.”

Q: What is your major, and what are your plans to do with it after college?
A: “My major is pre-industrial design, and I plan to be an industrial designer or a product designer. I hope to be able to stay around horses and animals and design products for the equine industry."

Q: What would you say your biggest accomplishment has been thus far in life?
A: “I would say my biggest accomplishment has been coming in third this year at Junior Hunter Finals. I flew alone from Europe to California to compete in that show, and it is a day I hold very special to me.”

Q: How are you balancing your first year being a student-athlete?
A: “By making sure I have my week planned and, in my calendar, so I know when all my appointments are, and assignments are due.”

Q: What are you most looking forward to heading into your spring season?
A: “I am looking forward to SEC Championships!”

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Auburn?
A: “My favorite restaurant in Auburn is the poke place in Hey Day Market.”

Q: Coming from California, what surprised you the most living in the South?
A: “I think it was the humidity. I’ve never lived in a humid environment before, and it was definitely an adjustment.”

Q: When and why did you start riding horses?
A: “I started riding at seven years old. However, as soon as I could talk, horses were always something I was fixated on.”

Q: You have a twin brother PJ, what is something that you get asked all the time being a twin?
A: “I typically get asked which one of us is older. While I am the older twin, but my brother is about 10 inches taller.”

Q: What do you hope to accomplish while on the team?
A: “I hope to be a good friend and teammate while I am on the team. And to win some championships too.”

Q: Favorite movie?
A: “10 Things I Hate About You!”

Q: What would you tell your younger self?
A: “I would tell her not to worry so much.”
