AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn soccer and first-year head coach James Armstrong announced the addition of Lily Devereaux, a hard-nosed defender from North Carolina, to the program Monday.

“Lily is a player who exemplifies what we are looking for on and off the field,” Armstrong said. “She is a true competitor who always leads by example. She will be a great addition to what we are building on The Plains.”

Devereaux will join the program ahead of the fall season as a true freshman. She begins her career on The Plains after playing for Weddington High School and Charlotte Soccer Academy where she was voted three-time All-Conference and three-time All-Region. She was named her team’s MVP and was bestowed WHS’ Warrior Award and Coaches Award.

Key to developing her fearless, physical presence on and off the ball, Devereaux was also a multi-sport athlete in tackle football in addition to soccer.

Devereux plans to use her experience as the president of WHS’ FFA to pursue a degree in agricultural science while at Auburn.

She is the daughter of Kerry and William Devereux. Her mother, Kerry, played soccer at Grand Valley State University, and her uncle, Max Wotell, was taken in the third round of the 2015 MLB Draft by the New York Mets and currently plays in the Cincinnati Reds organization.
