RIO GRANDE, P.R. – No. 20 Auburn completed its first tournament of 2025 on Tuesday, finishing in a tie for sixth place in an 18-team field at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic at Grand Reserve Golf Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.

“Very pleased with Balma (Dávalos Guaita) with her career-best finish,” Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said after the final round. “Her hard work is paying off! As a team performance, I’d have to score it a six out of 10. Too many mistakes and some sloppy short game. We have a few things to polish up before our next event. They are all close to playing great golf.”

Freshman Balma Dávalos Guaita led the Tigers with her best round of the season on Tuesday, posting a 3-under 69. Dávalos recorded four birdies in her final round, including both par 3s on the front nine at Grand Reserve Golf Club. The freshman moved up 21 spots on the individual leaderboard for her best finish of the season, a tie for 11th at 1-under (215).

Redshirt junior Casey Weidenfeld carded a 73 (+1) on Tuesday and finished the event just outside the top 25 in a tie for 26th individually. Junior Katie Cranston also fired a final round of 1-over (73) to finish the tournament 4-over (220) and in a tie for 37th on the individual leaderboard.

Sophomore Anna Davis had a difficult start to her round with bogeys on three of her first five holes of the day but played steady the remainder of the round to shoot 3-over (75) and provide Auburn with its final counting score. Her 54-hole total of 219 (+3) placed her in a tie for 32nd individually.

No. 2 Arkansas won the tournament at 19-under (845) after shooting a final round 273 (-15).

Up next, Auburn will travel to the Moon Golf Invitational at Suntree Country Club in Melbourne, Florida, for the fifth consecutive season. The event will be played Feb. 16-18.
