AUBURN, Ala. – No. 18 Women’s golf is set to play in a match play event on Monday and Tuesday at the Old Barnwell Derby Match Play at Old Barnwell Golf Club in Aiken, South Carolina. The event will feature three rounds of match play between eight teams.
Auburn will be joined in the field by No. 4 South Carolina, No. 6 Florida State, No. 9 Wake Forest, No. 12 Virginia, No. 14 Ole Miss, No. 19 Mississippi State and No. 22 Duke. The seedings were done based on the latest rankings from SCOREBOARD, which were released on Wednesday.
The six-seed Tigers will face three-seed Wake Forest in the first round on Monday morning. The winner will face either two-seed Florida State or seven-seed Mississippi State on Monday afternoon beginning at 8:15 a.m. CT. The finals of the event will take place on Tuesday morning.
Redshirt junior Carys Worby will enter the event after a top 10 individual finish at Auburn’s last event, the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. Worby carded a 215 (+2) at the event, including an opening round 2-under (70). The finish marked Worby’s best of the season and the second top 10 of her career. The Auburn redshirt junior carded nine birdies over 54 holes at Long Cove Club, which was three shy of the best mark in the field.
Auburn’s lineup for the Old Barnwell will feature a couple of changes. Junior Rachel Gourley and freshman Anne Fernandez will each be playing for the first time since participating in the Moon Golf Invitational in February.
