MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — No. 1 Auburn men's golf pieced together another solid round Monday at the General Hackler Championship, shooting 4-under to extend its lead to nine shots ahead of the Tuesday's finale at The Dunes Club.
Through 36 holes, the Tigers stand firm at 14-under-par. No. 19 Duke and Louisville share second at 5-under-par.
Auburn's best performances of the day were a pair of 69s (-3) from the sophomore duo of Cayden Pope and Jackson Koivun. At 6-under for the week, Pope trails the tournament leader, Duke's Ethan Evans, by three.
Koivun (-4), senior Brendan Valdes (-5) and sophomore Josiah Gilbert (-3) all remain within the top 10 individuals.
Seniors Ryan Eshleman and Carson Bacha shot a respective 71 (-1) and 73 (+1) on Monday. Eshleman holds strong in a tie for 14th at 2-under while at even par, Bacha is in 21st overall.
