AUBURN, Ala. – No. 20 Women’s golf is set to play in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate Monday through Wednesday at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head, South Carolina. This season will mark the Tigers’ 12th appearance in the event, which has been held annually since 2012. Each day of the event will be broadcast live on Golf Channel from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. CT.

“Everything about this event is top-notch,” said Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen. “Long Cove is a tough Pete Dye golf course and the weather in early March can be really nice or be cold and nasty. It’s a fine golf course and every single shot requires your absolute attention. There are no easy holes, every hole is a championship hole. There are a few key shots that you have to hit well in order to score well there.

The Darius Rucker Intercollegiate is considered one of the most prestigious regular season tournaments in women’s college golf, and this season’s event features 11 teams inside the SCOREBOARD top-25: No. 2 Arkansas, No. 5 South Carolina, No. 7 Texas, No. 8 Arizona State, No. 9 Wake Forest, No. 10 Northwestern, No. 12 Vanderbilt, No. 14 Mississippi State, No. 20 Auburn, No. 22 LSU and No. 25 UCLA.

The Tigers will have a new player at the top of their lineup at the Darius Rucker, freshman Balma Dávalos. Dávalos has been impressive this spring, finishing in the top 15 individually in each of the team’s last two events. The Auburn freshman fired a final round 69 (-3) at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic to earn her highest individual finish of the season at a tie for 11th place at 1-under for the tournament (215).

Junior Katie Cranston will look to continue her momentum from the Tigers’ last event, the Moon Golf Invitational. Cranston birdied each of her last three holes in the final round to card a round of 4-under (68) and finish the event under par and in a tie for sixth place individually. The finish marked the junior’s second top-10 finish of the season and the fourth of her career.

Auburn will begin the first round just after 10 a.m. CT from No. 10 tee at Long Cove Club alongside players from Northwestern and LSU. Golf Channel’s coverage will take place from 1:30 p.m. CT to 4:30 p.m. CT while live scoring of the event will be available online at scoreboard.clippd.com.
