Tuesday’s win vs. Alabama State marked head coach Butch Thompson’s 300th of his Auburn career … he joins Paul Nix and Hal Baird as the only coaches in program history to surpass the milestone … the series win at Kentucky marked the team’s eighth straight winning weekend dating back to the last two series of 2024 … it marks the longest weekend/series winning streak since 2003 … it also marked the first series win at Kentucky since 2011 … the team had dropped nine of the last 10 games against the Wildcats heading into the weekend … the 4-2 start to SEC play is tied for the best since starting 5-1 in 2017 … it’s tied for the second best SEC start under Thompson … the Tigers improved to 6-2 against ranked opponents this season by going 2-1 for the weekend … the team also improved to 5-1 in one-run games with the wins in each of the first two contests against the Wildcats … the comeback win in the series-opener – scoring two runs with two outs in the ninth inning – marked the team’s first win when trailing after eight innings since defeating Georgia 7-6 in 11 innings on Mar. 23, 2023 … the win in game two marked the first time the team has won a game by throwing out a runner at the plate since Bryson Ware did so from left field at Mississippi State on Apr. 17, 2022 … the Tigers have committed just one error in the last five games … the team has turned in a .982 fielding percentage thru 24 games, good for the 11th best mark in the country … Auburn walked 10 batters in 37.0 innings pitched last week and ranks 16th in the NCAA in walks allowed per 9.0 innings (3.29) … the team also ranks in the top 20 in the country in strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.05) and WHIP (1.25).
