AUBURN, Ala. – Freshmen Sophia Bell and Katelyn Jong were honored by the Southeastern Conference and placed on the SEC All-Freshman Team for their performances during the regular season, the league office announced Wednesday.
“I’m so excited for Sophia and Keko to get these awards,” head coach Jeff Graba said. “I love that their hard work is paying off and it simply shows how important they are and have been to the success of this program.”
Bell, of Blue Springs, Missouri, was recognized for her efforts on floor this season, having a 9.9 NQS in the event. She has competed in the event in every meet this season and has scored a career-best 9.925 on four occasions this year, winning floor once this year. Her scores have counted in all but one meet this year.
Jong, a native of Allen, Texas, was honored for her performances on bars this year. She finished with a 9.905 NQS prior to her season-ending injury, competing in eight meets this season in the event. She scored six 9.9s or better over eight meets, including a pair of 9.925s to set a career high. Jong opened up the season with five-straight scores of 9.9 or better and won the event four times.
The Tigers will head to Seattle next week for the 2025 NCAA Gymnastics Washington Regional, April 4-6. Auburn will be the No. 4 seed and will compete in the night session at 9 p.m. CT on April 4 and will go against No. 1 seed Washington, Nebraska and the winner between Illinois and UC Davis.
