LAS VEGAS — No. 2 Auburn men's golf holds an early lead following Sunday's opening round of the Southern Highlands Collegiate as the Tigers were the lone squad to shoot below par on the day, firing a team round of 1-under 287.

Host UNLV sits three shots back at 2-over 290.

Sophomore Josiah Gilbert continued his hot streak with a 2-under 70. He sits in second, individually. A crafty 71 (-1) saw senior Carson Bacha end Sunday's action in a tie for fourth place.

Seniors Brendan Valdes and Ryan Eshleman earned a pair of 73s (+1). A tough back nine saw freshman Billy Davis end the round with an 80 (+8).
