BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – In a continuing effort to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition, graduate senior forward Chris Moore (West Memphis, Ark.) was recognized on the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team for men’s basketball for the 2024-25 season.
Moore knows the importance of giving back to the community and making a difference in people’s lives throughout his five years on the Plains. He and his teammates participated in Serve Day in the fall, where the group transformed a widow’s home that was dilapidated, overgrown with bushes and weeds, into a livable home.
The Tigers also spent time with and brought smiles to pediatric cancer patients during their visits to Arthur M. Blank Hospital – Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, prior to playing Ohio State at Holiday Hoopsgiving as well as Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham, prior to playing Purdue at the Battle in Birmingham.
This marks the 27th year for the SEC Community Service Team for men’s basketball as well as for women’s basketball. All 22 league-sponsored sports have had a Community Service Team since 2004, with at-large teams for men’s and women’s sports being chosen from 1999-2003. The SEC began this concept with a football Community Service Team in 1994.
