ORLANDO, Fla. — Auburn sophomore Jackson Koivun concluded his fourth career PGA event, The Arnold Palmer Invitaitonal at Bay Hill Club and Lodge, in a tie for 48th place at 6-over-par.
Koivun shot 72 (E), 72 (E), 75 (+3), 75 (+3) over the weekend to make his third Tour cut and earn another point in the PGA TourU accelerated program. He now has 19 points and needs just one more to be awarded his PGA Tour card.
As the only amateur in the field, Koivun placed higher than the likes of Tour regulars Viktor Hovland, Sahith Theegala, Max Homa, Billy Horschel and Tom Kim. Tigers associated head coach Chris Williams was on the bag for Koivun at the API.
Russell Henley edged out Collin Morikawa by a single stroke, shooting 11-under 277 to win the tournament.
